What a wedding invitation for WhatsApp is
Digital wedding invitations for WhatsApp are a web page with your invitation, opened from a link. Only that link travels in the chat. When a guest taps it, they see the full invitation in their phone browser, with no app to install and no sign-up.
Plenty of people still send an image or a PDF. That works as a heads-up, but it falls short as soon as you need to know who is coming or a detail changes.

How your invitation looks in the WhatsApp chat
When you paste your invitation link into WhatsApp, the app builds a preview card with your image, so the message looks like an invitation rather than a plain link.
Three things before you send it
The preview stays frozen
WhatsApp stores the card as it was when you sent it. If you later change the cover photo, messages already sent still show the old one (the invitation itself, once opened, is up to date). Choose the main image carefully before the big send.
Wait for the card to load
After pasting the link, give it a second for the preview to appear before you tap send. If you send it too soon, it can arrive as plain text.
Keep the message short
WhatsApp cuts long texts with “Read more”. A greeting and one line are enough. The details are already inside the invitation.

Step 1 — Choose how you want it made

You design it in our online editor, on your phone or computer. With the basic details you have a first draft in a minute, and making it yours takes about 10–15 minutes. You fill in a form and our team prepares it, with expert advice throughout and unlimited changes. You work directly with our team until the invitation looks the way you imagined. Standard turnaround is 7 working days (rush in 48/72 working hours for a small extra fee).
Step 2 — Personalise it
Add what your guests need on their phone: ceremony and reception with a map, timeline, dress code, buses, parking, places to stay, countdown, gift list, background music and the RSVP form with the questions you want (menu, allergies, plus-ones, songs…).
Step 3 — Publish it and copy your link
When you publish it, the invitation goes live straight away and you get the link to share plus access to the guest tool. From there you can also create a personal link for each guest.
Step 4 — Send it on WhatsApp
You can mix three ways of sending, depending on the guest:
- Individual chat. The closest option, and the one that works best for family and close friends: a message with their name and the link. It is also the best choice if you use personal links.
- WhatsApp groups. Quick for a group of friends, colleagues or cousins: one message with the general link. Each person replies on their own from the form.
- Broadcast lists. They send the same message to many contacts, but each person receives it as a private chat and replies in private. Note: it only reaches people who have your number saved.
The link does not expire because you send it many times: sends are unlimited. As a guide, most couples send the invitation 4 to 6 months before the wedding (9–12 months for a destination wedding). More on when to send wedding invitations.
What the guest sees when they open the link, and how they RSVP
When they tap the card in the chat, the invitation opens in the phone browser (it also works on tablet and computer). Depending on the design and the sections you chose, the guest will see:
- The animated envelope and your song playing.
- Names, date and countdown.
- Ceremony and reception with a map.
- Timeline, dress code, buses, parking and places to stay.
- The RSVP form built into the invitation.
The RSVP that lands in your panel
Every reply arrives in your guest tool in real time. From there you can:
- See who is coming, who is not, and how many plus-ones there are.
- Filter by topic: allergies and intolerances, special menus, children…
- Add by hand anyone who cannot fill in the form (grandparents, for example).
- Collect songs for the party and pass them to the DJ.
- Arrange the tables with the seating plan.
- Download the data as Excel (and the seating plan as PDF) for the caterer or the venue.
If a guest makes a mistake, they can open the same link again and change their reply.

If something changes after you have sent it
If the bus time or the welcome-drinks venue changes, you edit it in the panel and guests see the update on the same link they already have in the chat, with nothing to resend. Only two details cannot be changed once the editor version is published: the date and the couple's names, so check those before you publish.

What about guests who do not use WhatsApp?
The link is the same on any channel. You can copy it and send it by email (useful for more formal invitations, or for someone who prefers a computer), by SMS or on social media, and it opens the same way.
For older guests who do not use a phone, you have two options:

How do you send a wedding invitation on WhatsApp?
When you publish your invitation you get a link. Copy it, paste it into an individual chat, a group or a WhatsApp broadcast list, add a short message and send it. The guest opens it with one tap.
Do guests need to install an app?
No. The invitation is a web page that opens in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer. They do not download anything or sign up to view it and reply.
How many times can we send the link? Do we pay per guest?
As many times as you like. The price is a one-off payment per invitation (from €69), not per guest, and sends are unlimited.
Can we change the invitation after sending it on WhatsApp?
Yes. Times, venues, text, photos or sections update on the same link your guests already have. The date and the couple's names cannot be changed once it is published. The preview card on messages already sent does not update in WhatsApp.
Can we send a different link to each guest?
Yes. From the guest tool you can create a personal link for each guest, as well as the general link for groups.
How do guests RSVP from WhatsApp?
Inside the invitation there is an RSVP form. Replies, including allergies, plus-ones or songs, arrive in your panel in real time and you can download them as Excel.
Can you send a wedding invitation video on WhatsApp?
A video is a file: it plays in the chat, but it has no map or RSVP, and if something changes you have to send another one. Our invitation is a link with music and an animated envelope. If we design it, you also receive a keepsake video invitation.
